Content creation process

  • An outline is an early concept document we create between the stages of discovery and drafting/design. It presents a possible narrative structure and contains no design elements or design point of view.

  • A wireframe is an early draft document we create between the stages of discovery and design. It contains no design and is not intended for design purposes.

This wireframe will be instrumental in determining how we tell the right story, and how we lay out and design the document. We prefer not to move forward in drafting, layout, and design until all stakeholders agree on or sign off on the wireframe.

  • A draft is a version of the creative content we are creating for this project. It is usually based on a discovery brief, outline, and/or wireframe, which have already been reviewed.

This draft is a work in progress, with the intention that some elements will be updated as we continue collaborating with stakeholders. As we move toward the final deliverable, iterative drafts will be indicated as R1, R2, or R3.

  • The Design Direction is intended to give an overview of the visual elements and style that will be used to express your story –including but not limited to color, typography, photography, illustration, branding, etc.

  • A presentation summary acts as a detailed overview for a presentation. Its main function is to present a possible narrative structure, while also identifying key factors like audience types and desired outcomes.

This Presentation Summary seeks to establish early agreement on slide flow and count, while ensuring we captured all information correctly during discovery.

  • We’ve reviewed this draft for clarity, consistency, and technical issues, such as spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and for adherence to your style guide. Comprehensive QA, including fact-checking and proofreading, will be applied in subsequent rounds.

  • We’ve proofed this document and applied the Sappington end-to-end QA process, comprising a detailed punch list including, but not limited to, copyediting, fact-checking names, titles, products, and services, adherence to your style guide, and review for diversity & inclusion, design specs, and file size.
